Kibworth & Fleckney Rotary Club

New President

After a very successful year, Elaine handed over the chain of office, at Boboli on 11 July, to Stephen Woodhouse.

During her year over £12000 was raised, supporting a variety of charities. Local youth groups, the Children’s Air Ambulance, Rainbows, Twenty Twenty and Crisis were among those who benefited. She is keen to attract more female members, so ladies do contact the Club if you are interested.

Stephen wants to continue to interact with and support the local community. Projects this year will include old favourites, the Kibworth Fireworks Display in November and Trolley Dash in December.

The ‘Friends of Rotary’ Group enables involvement in the fun and fulfilment of Rotary, without commitment of full membership. For further information contact grahamapt@btinternet.com.

Richard Darke Awards

The Club sponsors this annual award to children at local schools in recognition of special or exceptional achievement during the school year. This year’s awardees and citations were:

Jake Burden (Kibworth Primary) has constantly strived to dedicate his own time to the wider school community, supporting younger children as a reading buddy, representing the pupil voice with the DSAT parliament, acting as a visitor guide. His kindness, maturity and humility has meant that he has been a great role model during his time at Kibworth Primary School.”

Livvy Burgess (Fleckney Primary) has contributed to all aspects of school life representing Fleckney in both academic and sports competitions and has also helped younger children with their learning. She has taken advantage of every opportunity that has come her way and approached every task with enthusiasm and determination.

Lauren Wilcock (Church Langton) has been an excellent role model to all pupils at the school, she is someone who does not think twice before helping others. She has been a friend to all and is a worthy recipient of this award.
