Kibworth Medical Centre

Out with the Old and In with the New

On Wednesday 19 July the brand new state-of-the-art Medical Centre opened its doors to patients for the first time. Located just a stone’s throw away from the old Kibworth Health Centre on Smeeton Road, the new £3million purpose-built facility has an airy new waiting area, 11 multi-purpose consulting and treatment rooms, a minor operations suite and a counselling room.

Planning permission for the new surgery was finally secured just prior to Christmas 2015 and this project has been made possible following an extensive business case and resulting in substantial investment from the NHS to improve primary care services for the area. Although it was a hard fought battle to obtain planning permission, actually the changes made have resulted in a better designed surgery for both patients and staff.

Dr Choudhury, Senior Partner at Kibworth Health Centre said, “I am delighted that this much needed facility has opened its doors to our patients who can now benefit from modern, fit for purpose facilities.”

“The whole team at the Medical Centre has worked extremely hard with contractors, Greswolde Construction, the architect, Tony Stringer of Stringer and Jones and our developer, Matrix Medical on this exciting project and I am certain that patients will welcome this first-class facility which we are delighted to finally deliver to our patients.”

The new Kibworth Medical Centre also boasts a car park providing more than 60 car parking spaces for patients and staff in beautifully landscaped surroundings.

The bigger premises will allow the Medical Centre to deliver a high level of care and additional services locally for all registered patients.

Kirsty Whawell, Practice Manager added, “we would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of our Patient Participation Group for their help with this project and to our patients and the local community who have supported us throughout. Thanks also to the building team for being so helpful and for completing such a wonderful surgery, and above all our staff who worked tirelessly on this project. We look forward to taking Kibworth Medical Centre into the future and to developing new services for patients.”
