Thank you very much Peter

After over 35 years service to the Chronicle Peter Bacchus has decided it is time to step down. Peter has always put the Chronicle first, having been a dedicated member of the lay-up team.

Peter was introduced to the Chronicle by Geoff Crowther, a founder member of the paper. He first came to lay up at issue 10, in March 1979. One of his first jobs was to help sort out the letraset headings. Back in those days, all the titles were pressed down from letraset sheets. Peter then took up the job of Lay-up Manager and also edited and pasted up a page or two each month. Over the years he has continued to lay up pages and he has been involved in an amazing 384 issues!

After leaving school, Peter went to a Technical College to train in printing and graphic design. This gave him a good background for his jobs in the printing industry. He eventually worked for Pavac Plastics and then Coba in Kibworth and Fleckney. In his spare time Peter turned his hobby into a small business which involved designing and printing business cards and letterheadings. Naturally, he printed any cards that were needed for the Chronicle.

Peter and Sue were married at St. Wilfrid’s Church by Dennis Ireland, over 50 years ago. After a brief move to Leicester they came back to settle in Kibworth, where Sue has lived all her life. They are very proud of their daughters, Justine and Esther and also their grandson, Stefan, who recently shared a leading role in Les Miserables at the Little Theatre.

Peter has been an active member of the Village Trust and at this present time he likes nothing better than to potter about in his garden.

We all wish to say a BIG thank you, Peter, for giving your time to the Chronicle.
