The Welcome Kitchen will recommence in the New Year. Starting on Monday 5 January and every Monday until Monday 30 March for just £5 per person one gets delicious homemade soup, tea or coffee plus cakes , a free raffle and of course excellent company and conversation. 12 noon onwards. Get there early before it is sold out.

Owned by one time Kibworth residents sisters Sam and Sarah, the shop has continued to develop since they took it over in 2023, building on the strong foundations already in place. The shop was originally owned by another Kibworth resident, Kate Foster.

As a result of this summer's drought, the locks closed to traffic on 29 July and remained closed until 27 October. Canal & River Trust (CRT) made a considerable fanfare of the reopening. This included a substantial piece on BBC East Midlands TV.
