Kibworth’s ‘Big Build’ given go ahead by HDC

Despite numerous both written, and on the night verbal, protestations, on grounds such as environmental, logistical and social, from local residents and our Parish Council representatives the application numbered 17/00500/FUL to build 45 retirement living apartments on a site at the end of St Wilfrid’s Close was duly approved at the full HDC Planning Committee meeting held on the evening of Tuesday 7 November.

When fully realised the resultant development will arguably be the largest single two and three-storey building in Kibworth. Furthermore the immediate impact will be on the average age of the Kibworth community as all the apartments are only to be sold to over-55 year olds. With up to 90 people resident, their health needs will need to be met by local doctors, pharmacists etc.

At the same meeting approval was also given to the building of four large logistic units off Churchill Road, Fleckney.  The results of this development will be that even more traffic including numerous HGVs and other associated articulated vehicles will further traverse our busy roads including, especially, the A6 in an effort to get to the A14 thus exacerbating the air pollution problem already in evidence and for which A6 in Harcourt is now deemed to become an Air Quality Management Area.

Kibworth Beauchamp Parish Council are considering challenging the above decision along with other similar approvals.  Look at their website for the latest situation.
