The Art Room is Getting Creative
Based in Kibworth Harcourt, The Art Room was originally set up as a hobby room. After being persuaded by some of the local mums, however, Beverley Taylor has begun to pass on her love of art to young students by running ‘Workshops’, ‘After School Clubs’ and hosting ‘Birthday Parties’ for children from Foundation Stage to Year 7.
The Art Room has only been running since half term, but already students have produced some amazing artwork, which has been shared on The Art Room Facebook page. Take a look, you will be incredibly impressed by the quality of the work created, which has included sketching, painting, printing, papier-mâché, sewing and pottery.
Children also took part in the Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival where they decorated their tree with beautiful ‘peg dolly’ Angels. It looked superb. Two of the students, Amelia Woolston and Ella Kitchen, have already gone on to further success by winning the Kibworth Churches and Kibworth Library Christmas Card competition.
Clubs will be running again after Christmas, so if your child would like to take part contact Beverley by email on firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 07718 477005.
Beverley has lived in Kibworth for 16 years and is well known locally as a Primary Teacher with over 20 years experience at Market Harborough C of E Academy, where she specialised in the teaching of art. She has also been part of the Chronicle ‘lay up’ team for the last few years and is an active member of the Kibworth and Smeeton WI.
In 2018, Beverley’s new challenge is to start running courses for adults. They will cover a range of different skills including, Batik, sewing, pom pom making, slab clay work and beginners glass fusing. Courses will be advertised on Facebook and also on her web page www.theartroomkibworth.co.uk which will be active from 1st January 2018.
