As the Chronicle goes to press the band will be holding their Annual Christmas Concert where, as in the last few years, they will be showcasing their Youth Groups. Their tutor, the bandís solo trombone player, is continuing to work hard with lessons at four local schools and in the bandroom to encourage the young people of the local area to take up the playing of a brass instrument. Indeed all their hard work paid dividends at the recent Leicester Festival of Music and Drama where for the second year running they won the Orchestral Ensemble Class.

In relation to the concert, the Band are grateful for the support of local businesses in giving raffle prizes and advertising in our concert programme. Our thanks also to those who came along to support us.

Christmas is always a busy time for us and our next formal engagement will be on Saturday 16 December at Leicester Cathedral. Together with the Cathedral Choir the Band will be presenting a concert featuring Christmas music. After that, on Monday 18 December we will be at the Leicester Grammar School, London Road, Great Glen.

For a less formal event why not come along to the Fox & Goose, Illston on Sunday 17 December or the Christmas tree light switch on at St Catherineís Church, Burbage on Friday 22 December where a small group from the Band will be inviting audience participation with carols and Christmas music. Further  information on all of these events can be found on our web site
