Kibworth Velo Club

Kibworth Velo Club had its 1st anniversary in February and the social cycling club continues to grow from strength to strength!

Members have continued to convene in the winter months, enjoying rides out incorporating a cafe and cake stop for medicinal purposes as the weather has allowed. Its been a long winter and were all looking forward to the Spring!

We are looking to expand the Club and well be doing Club Rides on a Tuesday as well as Thursday evenings. The first of these will be our Night Ride on Thursday 22 March starting at 6.30pm. This will be a 90min ride ending at a local hostelry. Everyone is welcome to join, all you need is good bike lights. Night riding is incredibly safe, more so on quiet country lanes, and it really does bring your senses alive.

We also have the Steeple Chase on Easter Sunday, hosted by club member Keith Low. Keith is issuing pictures of local churches to the Club Facebook page with the idea of working out where they are and each rider planning the shortest route between them. On the day, we are convening at 8am and then riding the route. Should be a great morning out and ending at a local pub for an Easter drink.

We have a number of trips planned in 2018 as well. Club members are entering the Etape Loch Ness on 28 April, a 65mile ride around Loch Ness which is spectacular. We also have a Highland weekend planned at the end of September, a three day break with cycling up the west coast. In between, well be doing lots of Saturday and Sunday rides that anyone can join in. Well have a healthy entering at the Harborough Sportive on 8 April and also look to enter some more events around the country, supporting other Leicestershire cycling clubs.

We are a very friendly bunch with regular social events at the Swan. If youd like to join, then all types of cyclist are welcome. We have all ages and abilities in the club, from new cyclists to seasoned veterans. Cycling is great exercise and you see so much more of the countryside we live in. We are looking to expand the Club, growing the number of women cyclists in the Club and maybe look to start a Junior section if the interest and help are there.
