An Ofsted inspector visited the school on Thursday 25 January. It was a short inspection and confirmed the previous inspection judgement in February 2013 when the school was judged to be a good school, with an outstanding judgement for behaviour and safety of pupils. In September 2015, Ofsted introduced their new and more rigorous inspection framework, raising the bar for schools. Even with these increased expectations we believe it is our strongest inspection report to date. To read the letter in full, visit our website

We were delighted to be invited to Foxton Locks to see the maintenance work going on to locks. All children were really excited to see the rarely exposed chambers of Foxton Locks completely drained of water. The trip was filmed and shown on East Midlands Today and Central News with some of the children interviewed about the experience.

Two children from the school are now the Under 10s Badminton Champions after winning all their games at the Derek Meakin Memorial Badminton Tournament - congratulations to Charlie Bootheway and Theo Parsons.

Andy Tooze, the ‘poet from the peaks’ has visited the school and delivered an exciting poetry experience to all the children. The sessions were dynamic and interactive, involving speaking, listening, reading, writing and drama. The children were given a variety of simple, helpful hints to enable them to compose their own poems and achieved excellent results.

Not too long now until Easter and our Church Service on Friday 23 March, then comes the Summer Term with the usual
