Rain Rain Go Away …
The last month has been a wet one - by any definition - and not even the most senior cricket club members can remember such a difficult time in preparing the ground for the start of the season. So far there have been no games and no practice on the ground. This is all rather ironic as the club has invested heavily over the winter in rain covers and practice nets. The problem is that the ground has never been dry enough to cover and keep dry!
The Leicestershire and Rutland League have taken the unprecedented step of postponing the start of the season by one week and as a consequence we will now start league cricket on Saturday 28 April (weather permitting) and finish on Saturday 29 September. We hope to start our outdoor practice sessions next week and anyone who would like to play cricket or learn to play cricket is very welcome to come along for a taster session.
Organised sessions are:
Monday Nights - Womens practice and hopefully a new girls section (age 8 and above) will commence at 6pm.
Thursday Nights - Mens practice from 6pm.
Friday Nights - Under 13s and Under 15s (school years 7-8 and 9-10) from 6.30pm and All Stars Cricket (school years 1-4) from 6.30pm on Friday 11 May.
Sunday mornings Kwiks and Under 11s (school years 5 - 6) from 9.30am
For more information view the clubs website kibworthcc.co.uk or speak with Junior Chairman Mark Senior on 07956 627327.
The clubhouse will be open every Friday Night from 6pm throughout the season and we are planning to have family friendly food and drinks available. You don’t have to be a club member to try out our facilities so please come along and say hello. In addition we will be open on Sunday mornings for a range of breakfast offerings and the chance to sit back and relax on the sun-drenched balcony. Yes you read that correctly and despite all the evidence of recent weeks we remain confident that summer is on its way.
