Well, the cricket season is now well and truly under way and after a distinctly cold and wet start we have enjoyed some glorious afternoons on our Fleckney Road ground.

The club’s first XI collected their first silverware of the season by winning the County T20 Final on our home ground. We now progress to the Regional Final and have hopes of moving  beyond this to the National Semi Finals and Finals. Unfortunately, hopes of repeating previous heroics in the National Knockout 40 over game were thwarted when KCC lost out to a strong Cavaliers side from Nottingham in a low scoring game last weekend.

In the league, the new win/lose format (no games can be drawn) has created some exciting finishes. The 1st Team are now moving up the table after a shaky start and the 2nd Team have had an excellent run. Perhaps the surprise package has been the 4th Team who have won 3 of the 4 games completed and sit 4th in their table amidst a clutch of rival clubs Second XIs. Our Women’s team have made a steady start and have just appointed a level II qualified coach, Edward Wilson, to lead Monday night training and Sunday match sessions. On Mondays Level II Coach Chris Clapham is leading a girls only session (8-13 age group) - so if you would like to give cricket a go then Monday nights at 6pm is a great place to start.

Our Junior section has also had a hectic time and both Friday nights and Sunday mornings are now very busy with juniors of 5 – 15 years. If you have children or grand-children that might like to try out cricket then please feel free to come along on Sunday mornings from 9.30am.

As the summer progresses we will be hosting a number of representative games and details are below. There will be some wonderful cricket on display and you will be able to watch the game(s) and enjoy our excellent bar and facilities throughout the summer. Which reminds me! We would love to welcome more social members to the club, so come along and say hello and we will explain what social membership entails or alternatively visit our website kibworthcc.co.uk
