Girlguiding is growing!

Girlguiding in Kibworth continues to be popular with girls aged 5 to 18 years old.  We currently have well attended Rainbow, Brownie and Guide units (two of each in fact!) with a Ranger unit for girls over the age of 14 covering all of the local villages.

Girls get to experience fun and adventure in a safe space where they can grow in confidence to be the woman they want to be. The new programme (due to be revealed in full in July) will ensure girls have a clear route to follow right from their first day as a Rainbow through to completing Rangers, while having fun, making friends, learning new skills and building a sense of independence at each stage.

In order to offer these opportunities for girls we have a fabulous team of volunteers who make time each week to run unit meetings, bringing their own ideas, skills and experience to to our team and sharing them with the girls.  We are always happy to hear from anyone who would like to be involved - but the reason for writing here is to make a specific plea for Rainbow leaders.

We have two needs; firstly our lovely team (Claire and Rachel) on a Friday evening will 'jump the Rainbow' at the end of the summer term. They've provided a super programme for the past three years and have decided that now is the time to move on, as a result we'll need volunteers to keep the unit running in September. The unit meets from 6-7pm on a Friday evening and if you think you can provide support I'd love to hear from you.

Secondly we hope to open a new Rainbow unit in September to cope with demand for an earlier meeting slot for our youngest section. We plan for the unit to meet from 4:30 - 5:30pm on a Tuesday evening, again if you think you can support this unit please get in touch.

Both units operate during term time only and as a volunteer within Girlguiding you'll have access to training such as first aid, safeguarding and even leadership if you want to complete our programme. You don't need to have experience working with children, or a daughter in guiding - just a passion for providing the chance for girls to access the wide range of opportunities Girlguiding offers.
