Celebratory Tea Party

This year Celia Herrick, a Kibworth based British Wheel of Yoga teacher, is celebrating 25 years of Yoga teaching in South East Leicestershire. Also this year, Celia has been diagnosed with, and successfully treated for, breast cancer.

In honour of these events a celebratory bring and share Tea Party was held on Sunday 3 June at Kibworth Grammar School Hall in aid of the charity Breast Cancer Care. The theme was ‘To put a feather in your hat’ and participants were asked to wear feathered headgear - the wackier the better! A large tombola helped to boost the fundraising and more funds were raised by selling surplus cakes to the Great Bowden Recital Trust Adult Vocal Choir (of which Celia is a member). Entertainment at the Tea Party was provided by Celia's daughter Elizabeth and her friends, who put together a singing group and even created lyrics specially for the occasion. The event was a great success! Thanks to everyone's generosity £1,037 cash was raised for the charity, plus numerous individual online donations. At the time of writing donations were still coming in. One in eight women will receive a diagnosis of breast cancer and Breast Cancer Care provides invaluable support and  information.
