Top Awards for two Kibworth Rangers

Top Awards for two Kibworth Rangers

Alex Whitehouse has received her Queen’s Guide Award. This is the highest award for Guiding members, developing skills while contributing to guiding and the local community. Work for the award includes service in guiding, an outdoor challenge, personal skill development, community action and a residential. Each section pushes boundaries and is no mean feat to complete. Not many achieve the award country wide and those that do go to London to have the award presented.

Sophia King has received her Duke of Edinburgh Gold award. The work for this includes 12 months volunteering, a physical and skills section, a four night residential and the well-known four day/three night expedition. Sophia canoed her way through her expedition. She will also be going to London to have her award formally presented.

Both girls took pride of place at the Girlguiding County Awards Evening. Their badges were presented by Dr Sarah Furness, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County of Rutland and they received personal congratulations from Bridget Towle, former Chief Guide and now our county president.

Sophia and Alex are a credit to Guiding and the local community and have worked hard to achieve these awards.
