Stanley Fenna 1924 - 2018
It's with sadness that we report the death of Stanley Stewart Fenna who passed away suddenly at home on 31 July at the age of 94. Stan was born in West Gorton, Manchester in 1924. He left school at the age of 14 and was apprenticed as a joiner. He worked his way up to becomea Building Control Officer and moved to Leicester in 1966 to work for Leicester City Council where he stayed until his retirement in 1984.
His career was interrupted when he joined the Royal Airforce in 1942 serving for five years as a driver. He and his wife Marion moved to Kibworth from Great Glen in 1991 to be nearer daughter Pamela and niece Barbara and their families.
Stan was a keen sportsman playing football for Leicester City Engineers into his late 40s and was a member of Kibworth Bowls Club after his retirement until he was unable to play any longer. He and Marion enjoyed going for meals with friends from Kibworth Methodist Church and he was well known for always ordering double custard. They also attended Kibworth Society and the Gardening Club plus enjoying performances by Last Minute Theatre.
He did an excellent job over the last few difficult years caring for Marion who suffered from Alzheimers disease and sadly became a widower in February this year after almost 70 years of marriage. He was a caring family man much loved by all his family and will be sadly missed.
The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers and for the donations to Kibworth Methodist Church Renovation Fund in his memory. Special thanks to Roy Bills, J Stamp and Sons, Boboli and all those who attended for helping to make the celebration of his life so special.
