Merger proposal for Kibworth Surgeries - Have your say
Two Shires Medical Practice and Kibworth Medical Centre are urging patients to have their say by taking part in a short survey on the practices' proposal to merge into one. The 90-day consultation will end on Monday 15 October. Stakeholders and members of the public are also invited to participate.
Meeting the changing needs of patients and providing more choice in the health services they receive is a key driver for the proposal. An increase in the elderly population, growth in long-term conditions and the need to ease pressure away from hospitals by providing more care in communities, means general practice has to expand and change. In future the practices may also undertake a review of its sites which could mean proposing to extend or close current sites. Patients would be consulted first.
The aim of the proposed merger is to improve the overall range and quality of services to all patients by providing better access to services including clinical staff, increasing GP availability and continuity of care for patients.
Once the consultation has come to an end, the feedback will be analysed externally before being presented to East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group's (ELR CCG) Primary Care Commissioning Committee (PCCC). The PCCC will consider the feedback and make a decision.
