This year’s Kibworth 6 was contested in much warmer conditions than usual. The original date for this Winter League race in early March fell victim to the snow, but thanks to the efforts of Race Director, Andy Kemp, and various organisations involved it went ahead on Bank Holiday Sunday. Thankfully the thunderstorms had subsided, as well as flood water in Smeeton which would have created a water hazard for the runners.
Bernie Owen led the Club home in 47:57 (138 - 15th female). First male for the Club was James Tate in 48:34 (166). Other Club runners were Mike Turner 51:18 (202), John Clampin 52:21 (217), Vicky Beaumont 52:49 (224), Sally Swift 54:11 (236), Jamie Owen 56:36 (263), Tor Hawley 1:06:34 (335), Karen Foyster 1:11:34 (355) and Joanne Raine 1:14:04 (360).
Runners were grateful for the addition of a water station at the top of Gumley Hill, the second of three challenging hills on one of the toughest Leicestershire Road Running League courses. F&K Members were out in force as marshals on the course to ensure all the runners stayed safe, and also providing well-earned post-race refreshments which raised over £200 for LOROS.
Sunday 2 September - John Fraser 10 Mile Road Race

Sunday 12 August - Carl Rutt Memorial Hermitage 10k Road Race
Bernie Owen led the way for Fleckney & Kibworth Runners again as the penultimate race of the Leicestershire Road Running League took place. Hosted by Hermitage Harriers, and run in memory of one of their dedicated members, this is a picturesque race around the country lanes of Whitwick. The first half is very much uphill with some challenging long ascents, before things level off and then gives runners some much needed fast downhill sections in the closing stages.
Bernie claimed 203rd position overall, 29th female, and also picked up a very nice trophy for 1st place in the Female 60+ category, with a time of 47:34. Jim Hawley was first man home for the club in 257th with a time of 49:41. John Redfearn (287) and Andy Findlay (288) almost crossed the line together in 51:02 and 51:04 respectively.
