We were so very sad and devastated to say goodbye to Dean Stocks, who at age 56, lost his brief battle with lung cancer.
Dean was a devoted husband to Maggie for 33 years and a very loving, proud and supportive father to Jonny, Lizzie and Sarah; as well as being a trusted friend to many, a respected colleague, and a great son, brother, uncle and great uncle.
Having grown up in Great Glen, shortly after graduating from London School of Economics, Dean returned to Leicestershire and settled into his career in Design and Marketing, got married and made his home in Kibworth where he has lived since 1983.
Dean loved Kibworth and was always deeply involved in village life. He became an effective Governor at his children’s primary and secondary schools, and served on Kibworth Beauchamp Parish Council since 2012, proud to have helped to establish the Kibworth Neighbourhood Planning Group.
He was well loved by so many people; as well as being a good neighbour, enthusiastic golfer, keen footballer (in his younger days), a helicopter pilot, whisky and red wine lover, and wannabe guitarist!
Dean was kind, gentle, humble and always willing to help other people - a man who will be missed greatly by many people.
The family would like to thank the staff who looked after Dean in his last few weeks at LRI Oncology Unit and the many friends who supported the family throughout his illness.
Thanks also to all those who attended the wonderful celebration of his life at Great Glen Crematorium on 29 June, and who contributed more than £3,000 in Dean’s memory. which was donated to the Roy Castle Foundation for Lung Cancer Research, the British Lung Foundation and Leicestershire, Derbyshire & Rutland Air Ambulance.
Friends who wish to write a note, or who are willing to part with a photo, are welcome to contact the family and come and add to Dean’s Memory Book.
