From ‘couch to marathon’
I am not a runner and I have never been a runner. I am the kind of person who struggles to run a mile up the road. In fact I have very little time for any form of exercise truth be told. I am a Kibworth mummy, to two crazy, gorgeous little children, Smudge the dog and I am a teacher. Fitting in training for this mammoth challenge will be a challenge in itself. However, I applied for the London Marathon because… why not?!
I have been blessed with a healthy body that will get me round 26.2 miles whether that be running, jogging, walking or being dragged by some sympathetic souls. What is important to me, and one of the main reasons for putting myself forward for the challenge, is to raise money for Save the Children. In the coming eight months of ‘couch to marathon’, I am going to be raising awareness and fundraising as much as I can for this fantastic charity that helps to protect children not only in the UK, but also all around the world.
Save the Children is a charity that was set up nearly 100 years ago in London after the First World War to help fight child poverty and protect vulnerable children from neglect, abuse and exploitation. In the UK they focus on helping children to thrive regardless of their background. Worldwide, they help children wherever disaster strikes. Go to www.savethechildren.org.uk for more information.
Please donate to help me achieve my goal to raise £2,000 by going to my fundraising page https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AliceWarburton1. Eeeeek here we go!
