As the shortest day approaches and the winter cold digs in, our thoughts turn quite naturally to cricket. No need to worry about last minute presents, turkey stuffing or scoffing mince pies, there are more important things to ponder.
The KCC team are already working hard on their plans for 2019 and will share them with the players and membership at our AGM on Sunday 27 January at 11am. If you are interested in joining the club and want to know more, please come along. We have men’s teams, women’s teams, junior teams (coaching from 5 years upwards).

Our indoor winter net sessions for adults begin on Tuesday 8 January at Crown Hills College Leicester at 8pm and each week until April. Junior coaching will commence on Sunday 13 January at CCA in Leicester. More details on our website kibworthcc.co.uk.

However, before all this, a highlight of the whole KCC season will be our New Year’s Day get together. This is a brilliant way to start off the new year and is a very laid back and sociable affair. Gone are the days when we played cricket in the snow but there will be a large gathering of friendly folks (from 9 months to 90 years) enjoying the last moments of the festive season. This is a great chance for members, guests and visitors to get a real feel of what we are all about. Open from 12 noon until early evening for you to just pop in - there might even be some hot food and music if we are lucky.

And so, as this eventful year comes to a close. All in all, it was a good year for the club with the First Eleven winning the Leicestershire Premier League, they also won the League Cup and the County T20 competition all of which were collected at the League Presentation Night and brought back to the village by Matt Bashford, Kev Messenger and Charlie Page-Morris (see photo). The women’s team continue to develop and we are keen to attract more lady players to the club. Our junior section includes ‘All Stars’ for the age of 5 upwards and one of the most pleasing sights of the summer was our men’s second eleven playing in Division One Leicestershire cricket with up to 10 of our own juniors in the side. The second, third and fourth teams were all the highest placed of any equivalent side in the league giving us much to be proud of and a very high bar to aim for in 2019.

Have a very merry Christmas and a great 2019.
