Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival

The 19th Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival proved to be as popular as previous events, raising a grand total of £8,734. This sum will be divided between St Andrew’s Church, the Village Hall and this year’s chosen charity, Dementia UK.

The winning tree in the Adult section was It’s A Blooming Christmas, entered by Zoe Williamson and Louisa Rawlings. Second place went to Barbara Lloyd’s tree, While Shepherds Washed Their Socks by Night, and A Lava Tree by Diane Delabrooke took third place.

In the Children’s section, Festive Fiesta by Lottie King was the winner, while second place went to Farmer Christmas by George, Arthur and Charlie Barbour, and third place to Christmas Truce by St Cuthbert’s Primary School.

Attractions in the Village Hall included home-made refreshments, a Grand Raffle, and Joules Seconds, crafts, jewellery, plants, greeting cards, ceramics and local beer were among the stalls.

The organising committee were delighted with the result and appreciated the support from visitors from surrounding villages, plus the raffle prizes donated by local businesses. They wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to welcoming even more visitors to the 20th Festival next year.
