Plans for house on Gasworks site

gasworks

A planning application has been submitted to Harborough District Council. This was originally to build two detached dwellings between the railway embankment and the former Kibworth Gas Light & Coke Company house on New Road; however, following comments from KBPC and others the developer has revised its plans proposing one detached house instead.

The gasworks operated for eighty years until nationalisation in 1948. Coal was brought by rail and tipped onto the site. At the time, the land was occupied by a large gasometer.

Leicestershire County Council has expressed concerns about traffic and parking nearby. The site is opposite Clarkes Vehicle Repair facility. A planning application to build dwellings on that site has been withdrawn.

You can view and comment on the application by visiting the Harborough District Council website entering the reference number 19/00010/FUL.
