A final push on Saturday 30 March with a working party of players and social members will get the ground and facilities ready for the start of the season.

Our men’s league season kicks off on Saturday 20 April but we have two friendly fixtures the weekend before against Hucknall and Saffron Walden.

Adult indoor training sessions will continue for another three or four weeks. Cricketers of all abilities are invited to join us. We offer coaching and games to suit the raw beginner and the premier league players. Read more at www.kibworthcc.co.uk.

Our coaching team will again include PJ van Biljon, who had a fantastic season in his native South Africa. PJ has captained the Knights Franchise side (like our County Cricket) in all domestic competitions and was part of the Jozi Stars team who won the inaugural Mzansi T20 final in Cape Town. In addition, Josh Cobb will be back on a more regular basis. Josh won the National Under 13 competition alongside our first team captain Sunny Patel. He played for England Under 19s and started his first class career at Grace Road. He is now playing at Northants and has been Man of the Match in the T20 finals at Edgbaston not once but twice.

Our foundations are built on a thriving junior section and we will have teams playing All Stars, Kwik Cricket, Incrediball and Hard Ball cricket at U11, U13, U15, U19. We are offering coaching through a number of ECB qualified coaches, ex- and current first class cricketers and a host of volunteers. If you have a son or daughter who would like to join, visit www.kibworthcc.co.uk for details of our Friday night and Sunday morning training sessions. For 5-8 year olds who are new to the game please check out www.ecbclubspark.uk for the ‘All Stars Cricket’ programme.

Finally, we are placing a high priority on developing our girls’ and women’s cricket section. Ali Wall has been appointed Chair of Women’s Cricket and was part of the team that won the Leicester Indoor League last month - the club’s first silverware of the year. We are offering a range of opportunities for girls and ladies and we are delighted to have been chosen as one of a small number of clubs in Leicestershire to become a Cluster Club.

This will allow us to benefit from ECB support and guidance and to offer a pathway for girls in South Leicestershire to progress to county and higher levels. We will be offering ‘girls only’ coaching on Monday evening at 6pm (from age 11 upwards) alongside our women’s coaching and these sessions will be led by ECB qualified coaches and supported by mums and by women players. Girls will also be very welcome at All Stars and Kwik Cricket coaching.
