Spring Wildlife Walks in Great Glen

Great Glen Community WildSpace (GGCWS) has organised three Sunday morning wildlife walks this spring. GGCWS is a local conservation group that manages the habitat at three natural areas in Great Glen.

The remaining walk dates are 19 May and 23 June. Walks commence at 9am and last for about two hours. The meeting place is by the Great Glen Memorial Green (opposite The Greyhound). We do not walk any great distance but the underfoot conditions are sometimes uneven and/or slippery. The walks are open to non-members of the group. Children are very welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

The walks focus on bird, butterfly, insect and wildflower recognition. In previous years we have found wild orchids in June but their appearance is not guaranteed. Expertise is not required. We sometimes have to photograph a plant or insect for subsequent identification. This is a process that can enhance your future walks.

We invite small, voluntary, contributions (£5 per walk) towards the cost of running the WildSpace Group. You can choose to join any or all of the walks.
It is helpful (but not essential) if I know in advance that you plan to join us. You can thus be contacted in advance.
