Brian’s Bridge Bonanza
Brian Newton (88) a resident pensioner at Stuart Court in Kibworth Beauchamp walked the Humber Bridge to help raise funds for Christian Aid.
He was offered £500 in sponsorship by a friend, an offer he couldn’t refuse. Writing to family and friends he increased his sponsorship to eventually raise £2,895.
The money has gone to Christian Aid to help build and equip a brand new medical centre in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
Sierra Leone suffered a disastrous civil war and later an outbreak of the Ebola virus which claimed so many lives. Christian Aid week in May focussed on this project, which will save pregnant mothers a three day walk for pre- and post-natal care.
He thanks all for their encouragement and generosity.
