Lunchstop Anniversary

Lunchstop in St Wilfrid’s Church Hall has recently celebrated its 20th Anniversary with a special meal served to past and present volunteers and customers.
Originally set up in October 1999 as a mean of promoting community and companionship, it opened under the name of ‘Coffeestop’. Led by the late Sally Garratt, Elizabeth Cox and Hazel Taylor the idea was to serve a simple menu of soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and cake.

However, the venture became so popular among residents of Kibworth that the need to expand the menu to include an option of a three course hot meal became apparent. At the same time, to reflect this, there was a name change to ‘Lunchstop’. Four teams were established to work on a rota basis to prepare, cook, serve and clear away meals. These were originally led for many years by Pat Darke and since around 2007 by Jan Ellwood.

On behalf of Lunchstop Jan thanks all past and present volunteers and customers who have helped to make it so successful. If you’d like to join the happy team or know more about Lunchstop call her on 07887 518966.

Reasonably priced meals are served each Thursday lunchtime (apart from a summer rest) and there is no need to book. So, if you fancy some company, a good natter and a delicious dinner (or coffee and cake) just pop in to see the team, you will be made very welcome.
