Market Harborough Orchestra Concert July 2022
Market Harborough’s very own orchestra (MHO) is preparing to give it’s 23rd concert under the baton of Stephen Bell. It is on Saturday 2 July 2022 at 7.30pm at the Methodist Church, Northampton Rd, Market Harborough.
Secretary and flautist Frances Hynes says:
“After our sell-out ‘Welcome Back’ concert in January we are looking forward to presenting ‘England Through the Ages’ showcasing English composers from 1700 to the 20th century. [The concert will include:]
- Opening with suffragette Dame Ethel Smyth’s swashbuckling ‘The Wreckers’ overture
- Poet, author and composer Sir Arnold Bax’s mysterious tone poem ‘Tintangel’
- The great composer Handel’s famously joyful ‘Music for the Royal Fireworks’
- The first organist of the newly rebuilt St Paul’s Cathedral Jeremiah Clarke’s resounding ‘Prince of Denmark’s March’ featuring our very talented principal trumpet John Pacey as soloist
- Ralph Vaughan William’s ‘A London Symphony’, written after his experiences in the First World War, which evokes the sights and sounds of the capital
“Our aim as always is to provide the opportunity to experience great orchestral music in our home town. We are thrilled to be up and running again and presenting one of our largest concerts to date.”
Tickets for the concert are priced at £10, available online via a link from our website from 20 June. Accompanied children are free but must have a child ticket. Please contact us if you are unable to access tickets.
