Foxton Armistice Centenary Commemorations
Foxton Society is putting on two exhibitions in the village during November. One in St Andrew’s Church, during Armistice Week, will give profiles and information on the Foxton men who died or served in the Great War, and another display in the Robert Monk Village Hall, over the Armistice weekend, will cover general wartime and Foxton history.
Remembrance panels with the names of the Foxton men who died in the two world wars will be around the village during November.
There will be special poppy displays and trails in association with the war memorial in St Andrew’s Church, where the Foxton Community Choir will give a free performance of wartime music and songs on Saturday 10 November at 7.30pm, followed by light refreshments.
The Robert Monk Trust, with the W.I. and other volunteers, will provide tea and cakes in the Village Hall from 2.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 November There is no admission charge to the exhibitions or for refreshments.
From the beginning of November the Foxton Locks Museum will have a special exhibition telling the story of the canals on the Western Front together with a poppy trail.
The Remembrance Day Service is in St Andrew’s Church on Sunday 11 November at 6pm.
