Kibworth Band – May 2023
As the Chronicle goes to press a small group from the Band will be enjoying the bluebells in Swithland Wood. They will be playing for the annual Bluebell Service. They will then be supporting and encouraging the Youth Band in a Summer Concert at St Wilfred’s Church, Kibworth on Saturday 17 June at 2.30pm.
The Youth band was formed to mark the centenary of the Kibworth Band. It’s aim is to encourage the youth of Kibworth and the surrounding area to take up the playing of a brass instrument. It is a self funded venture. Instruments are loaned for free. It offers experienced tuition and a place to play and learn together.
It is important to give the young people the opportunity to perform in public, hence this concert. Please come along and support them. You never know you might see a young player who in time will be well known in the music field. Indeed, we already have two players who have been accepted as members of the National Youth Brass Band.
Tickets priced at £5, (£3.00 for those under 16) are available through our website www.kibworthband.co.uk/summer . You can also get them from any member of the Band or on the door. We will also be holding a raffle. We would be grateful to anyone able to donate a prize or place an advertisement in the programme. Drinks will be available at half time.
