Girlguides and Rangers
With winter weather and lockdown-2 upon us we are meeting once again over Zoom. It seems so normal and relaxed now after so many months of running weekly meetings that way.
In the autumn we had a ‘Rapido’ night with homemade playdough, making self-propelled cars and a Bonfire Biscuit Bake Off. Going into Christmas, we will be making pop up cards, sock snowmen and chocolate orange Malteser Christmas puds. This fun is tucked in amongst the usual programme nights. These include making keep fit guides where we will create our own fitness programme to our own soundtracks.
The new Girlguiding programme started about two years ago. We now have Rangers completing Bronze and Silver Awards and heading to Gold. Girlguiding awards are a great way to showcase what you do out of school. I provides something to show yourself off in first interviews and personal statements. Girlguiding also runs the Duke of Edingburgh programme and, as this is done by volunteer leaders it makes it a very affordable way to take part.
If you are 13+ and would like to try Rangers for a night then contact me at fleckneygirlguiding@gmail.com.
If you are under 13 but already a member of Guides (whether currently meeting or not) and would like to come along to try the fun, then let me know.
