Brass on the Grass 2018
Another amazing evening was spent in Smeeton Westerby at the beginning of July when, once again, The Oddfellows Brass Band came to the allotments to entertain us with their annual concert. This event really draws in the crowds and ,with the weather being so glorious, those crowds had increased in number.
The band’s music is so varied that it appeals to everyone as well as really showing off the talents of the band members. Expertly conducted by Rob Boulter, the audience was clapping and singing along one moment, laughing the next and then brought to tears the next – as the band played some emotive pieces that really touched our hearts.
With the help of Pimms, Langton Brewery beer, strawberries, cream and ice creams, nobody wanted the evening to end. The final collection in aid of The Village Hall showed how much the band was appreciated, with an amazing sum of £900 being taken!
