Adventures in the Wild by John Beatty
We are delighted to welcome John Beatty to Kibworth. He is one of Britain’s most exciting and stimulating nature, travel and adventure photographers. For thirty years, John has ventured across the world returning with stories of his unique experiences of the wilderness.
He has witnessed darkness and fire with Kalahari bushmen; wolves, walrus and streams of caribou in Aleutian Alaska; collected shells from Pacific beaches, run with wildebeest in the ancient dusts of Serengeti; hiked to hidden springs of the Grand Canyon.
His travels are infused with adventure and wonderment, from the Galapagos to the Andes, Namibia, Mongolia and the Amazon Basin. Closer to home, John has photographed almost all wild land locations in Britain. Ranging from the windswept tors of Cornwall to white strands of the Outer Hebrides.
As a photographer of wilderness, it is the drama of landscape, its biodiversity and wild weather that attracts him most. John’s assignments have taken him to some of the wildest lands on Earth. The star of his talks is always the utter beauty, mystery and majesty of nature itself. John has the uncanny ability through words and pictures to help you re-discover your ‘wonder’ in the world.
In John’s latest talk “Adventures in the Wild” he shares his most recent images and stories from across the globe. It will be on Wednesday 8 November at 7.30pm in Kibworth Grammar School Hall, doors open at 7pm. Tickets are £8 and are on sale now in the library or online at ticketsource.co.uk/Kibworth-community-library
