Kibworth Cricket Club – Oct 23
We did it! The first team became the first Leicestershire and Rutland League side to win the league three seasons on the bounce, which is an historic achievement. This also coincided with our most successful women’s campaign as our women’s team went unbeaten in their league campaign.
Below is a month by month season review:
Season Review
First up, let’s take ourselves back to May. After a wet start to the season, the 2nd XI marked an important milestone in the club’s history. They became the first KCC team to play in the National Village Cup.
June saw the sun shine and some amazing individual performances. Aadil Ali and Vashi Agarwaal broke individual batting records over the same weekend, with Aadil scoring 190 not out and Vashi 164. Just a couple of weeks later, our Team Ollie’s, Stone and Steed combined in the 3rds to bowl Sileby out for 16.
July saw the U17’s with the county title for the first time since 2017. It also saw a particular Rothley game that was pivotal to winning the Premier League as we bowled Rothley out cheaply having only scored 129 ourselves.
August brought the end of the junior training and match season. We are so pleased that over 400 kids have either trained or played with us in 2023. We also hosted our first ever Men’s first class cricket fixture when Essex visited Leicestershire in the One-Day Cup. We’re hoping the visit inspired Leicestershire to win the trophy in September.
And onto September, the end of the season and our league titles! Congratulations to all involved in our hugely successful campaigns.
