The Well
It’s been a very busy time out in the fields as farmers work all hours to bring in the harvest, for which we give thanks. Apparently, it’s a very good year for pumpkins due to the wet summer. Every cloud…?
We’re always busy in the food bank at this time of year receiving lots of very generous donations from local churches, as they hold their harvest services. This year is no exception, and we’d like to thank all those churches and individuals that have given. Everything will be used to support local people in need.
On the afternoon of Sunday 24 September, Kibworth Band put on a brilliant toe-tapping and flag-waving afternoon of entertainment. They presented the Kibworth Proms, raising money for The Well and the Band. Thank you to everyone that came along. We look forward to their Christmas concert on Saturday 16 December at Kibworth Hub (aka KGSH)
The Run Leicester Festival Half Marathon and 10k run took place on a humid Sunday morning at the start of October. We had several entrants running in support of The Well, who raised over £500 in sponsorship between them. A big thank you goes out to Matt, Lorna, Dan and Leonie for taking on, and completing, the challenge.
A suprise visit from Adam Thomas!
September saw us receive a visit from the well-known TV personality Adam Thomas. He has appeared in Emmerdale, I’m a Celebrity, Waterloo Road and currently, Strictly Come Dancing.
One of our volunteers, Krishna, nominated us to Hits Radio to receive a special ‘treat’ for our volunteers. This was as a thank you for the work that we do supporting the local community. Adam met some of our volunteers and customers. Then he got behind the counter of the ice cream van and dished out free ice creams to everyone! He posted a video montage of his visit to his Instagram account, which can be viewed on his profile ‘Adamthomas21’.
Disclaimer: Adam mistakenly referred to me in the video as “the owner” of The Well, which I most certainly am not! The Well is a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation, founded on Christian principles, registered with the Charity Commission, run almost entirely by band of kind, hard-working volunteers. Andy Wright.
