Not so Blue Mondays…
Happy New Year from the whole team at Lloyd Harden Design! We do hope you had a wonderful Christmas, a fabulous New Year and that you are raring to go in 2024.
At the shop, we have spent the first few weeks of the New Year in SALE! Out with the old and in with the new. In with pastels and earthy tones and out with the jewel tones and blue.
I don’t know about you, but spending two full weeks at home has made me look at my interior design with fresh eyes. Taking down the Christmas tree has left my lounge looking a little forlorn and in need of a new look!
So, let’s talk trends. Spring/Summer 2024 sees the welcome return of soft, pastel tones and fabrics. Think gorgeous linens and natural textures. This year, we’ll also see the return of silver and chrome lighting, taking the reins from the popular brass of the past few years.
Another trend making its way back into our homes this year is stripes! Although not for everyone, we love stripes! If you remember them from the first time around, then you may not find their return a welcome one. However, stripes have grown up since they were popular in the 90s and we’re loving them this time around. Striped wallpaper feature walls, striped accent chairs, bedding and headboards. Even wooden architectural slats on your chimney breast or staircase – you name it, it’s got stripes. They’re bigger, bolder and more beautiful than ever before.
We’ll also keep a few trends that were popular last year. Earthy tones are staying put. Greens are still going to be a very present colour in 2024. Nature-inspired hues tend to evoke a calming quality that most of us find comforting, making these great colours to choose for your lounge, guest bedroom or kitchen.
Gold accents in our homes are also still going strong.
Marble furniture with gold fixtures and fittings, gold bathroom and kitchen features and even gold leaf finding its way into home decoration, adding a touch of glamour and the feeling of days gone by.
It’s certainly not just us feeling that our homes need updating. We have been so busy at the shop, with enquires into new trends, interior styling and also new furniture!
Whatever you think your home may be missing, our lovely team can help you achieve it!
