The opening line of a novel, particularly a thriller, is deemed to be the most important. Of course, the rest of the novel has to be just as absorbing. This means that a lot of work has to go into researching the details of the story.
Jane Isaac Returns
By popular demand we have invited internationally best-selling crime author Jane Isaac back to Kibworth but this time for an evening event. Jane certainly leaves no stone unturned when preparing to write. Her last talk was full of fascinating facts about the writing and research processes she uses when developing her storylines. This included experiments, some exceedingly smelly, that she performed herself, all in the pursuit of getting the details just right.
Jane will be with us on Tuesday 5 March. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are on sale now in the library. They are £6 and include a complimentary glass of wine or a soft drink.
Gill Shaw Photographer
If you love walking along the canal and watching the boats, you will be delighted with our second event in March. Gill Shaw is a photographer and author of Canal Boat Lives. This is a set of stunning photographs showing the characters and lifestyles of the community of people living amongst us on our canals.
Gill will be with us on Thursday 14 March with a display of her photos. She’ll be telling us about how she created this book and her other life as a celebrity photographer. Doors open at 1.45pm for a 2pm start. Tickets are on sale now in the library for £5 and include an afternoon tea. There will be an exhibition of Gill’s work at Foxton Locks from 16 March till 8 April.
Monthly Book Sale
We have our monthly Book Sale on Saturday 9 March from 10am till 12pm. As always, jam-packed with great quality bargains. Every single penny goes to keeping us open.
