Methodist Matters – Easter Services

Easter Services

Palm Sunday – 24 March

During our Service, which is led by Rev Brian Kennard from Market Harborough, small Palm Crosses are distributed to the entire congregation as we recall the day that Jesus rode into Jerusalem with the crowd waving Palm Leaves to greet Him.

Good Friday – 29 March

At 10.30am, Churches Together in Harborough are organising a large Open-Air Service in ‘The Square’ in the centre of the town. With most of the shops open, this is one of the few opportunities for the churches in Harborough and the surrounding villages to share the Easter Message with those would not normally come to church. Obviously, the larger the crowd, the bigger the impact. Do come and join us.

At 7pm, in the Methodist Chapel here in Kibworth, we hold our annual Service of Light and Darkness. This begins with numerous candles lit which, as the service progresses, are gradually extinguished until the church is in darkness. In this service we recall Christ’s life being extinguished on the first Good Friday.

Easter Sunday – 31 March

Come along to our Family Service at 10.30am and, if possible, bring with you one or more flowers. During the Service, we ‘dress’ a large 6-foot cross with all the flowers, symbolising Christ rising from the dead on that first Easter Day. After the Service, the Cross will be displayed outside the Church in School Road.

Sunday 7 April

In addition to our usual 10.30am Service, we will be holding, at 5.00pm, our monthly Informal Worship which we call SPACE. This month it is entitled ‘Easter Encounters’.

And Finally – Like a Washing Machine?

Sometimes life feels like a washing machine, spinning and tumbling us around. Next time you feel like you are in a washing machine, just remind yourself that, in the end, you’ll be able to untangle yourself and come out of the situation brighter and better than before. Why not join us this Easter and let Jesus help to untangle you and start life afresh?
