Kibworth Community Hub
Kibworth Grammar School Hall
It has been a busy time at the Hub just lately. In March, we had our AGM. Martyn, the Chair, reported that conditions remain challenging, mostly due to the costs of utilities and staffing. However, the hall remains well used and we are confident that the future is bright, especially as we continue to develop our relationship with the library.
Martyn Wyburn was re-elected as chair, with Lynn Williams as vice-chair and Geraldine Hurley as treasurer. Andrew Dawes was also re-elected as a trustee. Shona Atkin became a trustee following her co-option during the last year. We are also delighted to welcome David Walker-Smith as a new trustee.
Fundraising
Our fund-raising activities are going well, with monies coming in from various charities supplementing the already secured funds, which will enable the building of the new library. We also have money from Awards for All and Platform Housing, which will go towards equipment for the kitchen, including a dishwasher.
80s Disco
On Monday 8 April, we hosted a successful Beetle Drive as a fundraising activity and on 7 September, we will be having an 80s disco. Please save the date now and look out those leg warmers and shoulder pads!
Sponsored Abseil
On May 18, Martyn is planning to abseil from the top of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. A ‘justgiving’ page will be set up so that Martyn can be sponsored. He will be raising money specifically to update the sound system in the hall. Please donate generously.
Drop In
We are still looking for volunteers for our Wednesday Drop in. If you would like to join us, please contact Kelly, our Hall Officer, Tel:0116796389 for this and all other queries regarding booking the hall.
