Over the summer months, members of the Fleckney & Kibworth Running Club have made the most of fine weather and taken part in many races and events. 

Prestwold 10k league race

Continuing in the summer league with a strong team,  first to finish was Steve King (42:51), followed by Lorna Muskett (47:12), Adam Niblett (49:48), John Clampin (51:53), Jim Hawley (52:25), Bernie Owen (54:17), Steve West (1:04:29), Emma Moore (1:10:33), Fawzia Kauser (1:13:19), Andy Kemp (1:15:40), Ruth Hughes (1:29:27).

Steve Morris 5 league race 

Coming in first for the club was Steve King (35:08), followed by Adam Niblett (38:19), Jim Hawley (40:05), Dan Pedley (43:23), Emma Boyd (43:50), Steve West (49:54), Andy Kemp (50:42), Emma Moore (52:08), Tor Hawley (57:10). 

Joy Cann 5

Keeping numbers high for the club and showing ultimate teamwork; first in was Steve King (34:34), followed by Jim Hawley (39:23), Jamie Owen (39:32), John Clampin (40:06), Bernie Owen (41:52), James Bull (41:46), Jo Wood (44:21), Kirit Patel (45:39), John Redfearn (46:44), Steve West (47:26), Emma Moore (49:50), Andy Kemp (54:58), Tor Hawley (55:57), Ellie Holland (01:00:29), Rebecca Taylor (01:01:28), Fran Gould (01:10:50). Bernie Owen received first place for her age group – well done!

Rotherby 8

Undertaking this hilly course and the penultimate race in the summer league were Steve King (56:27) followed by Lorna Muskett (01:02:10), Emma Boyd (01:16:09), Jim Hawley (01:16:09), Pete Bennett (01:16:11), Emma Moore (01:30:15), Fawzia Kauser (01:30:15), Andy Kemp (01:32:40)

Kibworth Round

In July, many members of the club revisited the popular Kibworth Round; a cross-country course covered surrounding villages of Gumley, Arnesby, East Langton and Saddington to name a few, covering 48 miles in total. This was celebrated with a BBQ and get together, much enjoyed by all.

Lorna Muskett completed the Stour Valley Ultra 50km in 5:53:26. Flying solo at the Wellingborough 5 was Steve King, coming in at 33:43. Jenny McNair and Ruth Hughes teamed up to complete the Race for Life at Victoria Park. Emma Boyd took on some league tourism at the Cornish Grand Prix series 4 miler, finishing in 36:31. Tracey Coates enjoyed completing the Tolkien Trail. Completing the Saddleworth Chip chase and her first fell race was and Tracey Coates coming in at 1:59:17, joined by Sam Pole (running with Dark Peak Fell Runners) finishing in a speedy 0:48:30.  

IIam Three Peaks Fell Race Inov-8 Limetone Series

Taking on the challenging fells of Thorpe Cloud and surrounding peaks, Sam Pole – in a strong field – took ninth place out of 148 in a time of 43:09. Emma Boyd also completed the race – her first fell race – in a time of 1:24:59. 

Great North Run

Flying solo this year at this well-loved half marathon was Ruth Hughes, who finished in 3:15:47. Ruth ran for the charity ‘Hearing dogs for deaf people.
