Birding On The Border – Southern Texas
When you think of Texas you probably imagine oil rigs, cattle drives and cowboy hats, not birds. But Southern Texas is one of the top birding spots in the world due to its sub-tropical weather and mild winters.
There are over 380 species of birds and 400 species of butterfly found in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, along with plenty of reptiles and mammals.
On Thursday 17 October I will be giving a talk in Kibworth Community Library about Southern Texas and its wildlife, and how best to view them without running the wrath of Border Patrol. Doors open at 1.45pm for a 2pm start. Tickets are on sale now for £6 and include some tasty refreshments.
So please come along and hear about a different side to life on the Texas – Mexico border. All proceeds will be going to the library to help keep it running.
