Magic Moments

Harborough Town’s FA Cup Victory!

After Harborough Town’s FA Cup victory vs Tonbridge, Leonard, a Kibworth Primary School pupil, declared that, “I’m going to get a ‘pick in the box’ at school for really good reading.” A ‘pick in the box’ is a box of treats pupils at Leonard’s school are rewarded with  for very good work. Leonard continued, “I’m going to pick a trophy and give it to the Harborough Town keeper at the Reading match, to say well done for doing really well.” True to Leonard’s word, a few days later he returned home with the trophy he’d selected, which he’d earned for very good reading.

Having been treated to an amazing spectacle at the Reading v Harborough Town FA Cup tie, which saw the Bees heroically succumb to a 5-3 loss, Leonard’s attention turned to making sure his favourite Harborough Town player, Elliott Taylor, got the reward he truly deserved.

Leonard’s moment arrived post-match while the players applauded the proud and privileged travelling fans. Thanks to some nimble help from Riley Cole-O’Sullivan, a Harborough Town player, Elliott popped over to say, Hi!

Leonard awarded Elliott the trophy he so thoroughly deserved and, in a magical and unexpected moment that Leonard will remember and cherish forever, Elliott gave Leonard his match-day goalkeeper gloves! Just one example of a beautiful moment, on a day of which there were many.

After a couple of days to reflect, Leonard described meeting Elliott as making him feel ‘really happy’. Leonard also had some final messages for Elliott, “Thanks for giving me your goalkeeper gloves, and well done for making lots of really good saves against Reading.” However, “Get further next time so you can play against Chelsea and save lots of Cole Palmer’s shots!

Thanks, Elliott; thank you, players; and thank you, coaching staff. Everyone associated with Harborough Town FC is incredibly proud of you!
