Fleckney Spinners Table Tennis

The Fleckney Spinners are spinning merrily into the new year with full houses for the coaching evenings on Mondays. 6.45pm beginners, 7.20pm improvers and free play until 9pm.
League News
The new year started with a 9/1 defeat for Fleckney-3 against Syston-Casuals. Impressive performances from Jan Nix and Jan Green. Followed by a first win for Fleckney-2 against Regent Sports-1. The Bob Palmer and Paul Gilmore partnership delivered a result which may have derailed their opponents’ title hopes. Fleckney-4 lost to Regent-2 but our hosts were friendly and the match enjoyable.
Wednesday 15 January was a tough night against the unbeaten League leaders, two of whose players are really too good for Division 5. Ethan Li made a good showing which avoided a complete whitewash. Fleckney-2 lost to Nomads-1 on Saturday 18 January by 6 to 4. Fleckney-1 won 7/3 against Regent Sport-1, putting another dent in their title hopes and cheering us all up after the last couple of matches.
It was back to losing against Nomads-1 on Wednesday 22 January with a 3/7 defeat, but at least our team made one point for the club. Raised hopes were soon dashed in a match between Fleckney-3 and Knighton Park-15 which resulted in a 10/0 defeat, but this was immediately followed by a 10/0 win for Fleckney-1 against Winstanley-5.
Although Fleckney-4 lost to Knighton Park-11, Omar Morsy and Lennon Devlin had the adults worried in the first game of the doubles despite both being under 13 years old and in their first season in the Senior League. Fleckney-3 suffered a 1/9 defeat against Knighton Park-13 but with a win for Jan Green. Not a good way to celebrate the Chinese New Year on Wednesday 29 January!
School Competition Results

Our coachees made a good showing that morning. Emilio Tzirki (pictured separately) as well as Jack Feakes, Abdel Elbeleehy, Omar Ibrahim and Omar Morsy all competed, Omar Morsy (with glasses) winning all but one of his matches.
