Friends of St Wilfrid’s Concert Friday 28 February
We are very much looking forward to a wonderful concert by The Frontiers Trio, starting at 7pm in the church.
Local musician David Le Page, along with Mark Ashford and Nick Stringfellow, will be performing a fantastic selection of music, with all proceeds going towards the essential upkeep of the church building.
Tickets are £18 from TicketSource.com.
Ash Wednesday Service at St Wilfrid’s on Wednesday 5 March
There will be a special service at St Wilfrid’s Kibworth at 7:30pm with communion, hymns and prayer. During this service, ashes made from palm crosses are blessed and used to make crosses on people’s foreheads to signify the repentance of sin and mortality.
What is Lent?
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and is a time when Christians reflect and prepare for the celebrations of Easter.
Some people eat frugally or give up treats following the example of Jesus, who fasted for forty days in the wilderness. Others give to charity, set aside time to study the Bible and meet with other Christians to reflect on Jesus’ life.
Lent Lunches
St Wilfrid’s will once again be holding Lent Lunches at the Church Hall at 12 noon on the following Thursdays: 13, 20, 27 March and 10 April.
We offer a simple meal of soup with a bread roll followed by tea or coffee. Donations are welcome and will be given to charity.
There is no need to book, just come along and join us for friendly conversation, reflection, prayer and readings in fellowship with others.
Lunchstop
The next Lunchstop will be taking place on Thursday 6 March; delicious homemade lunches served between 12 and 1:15pm in the Church Hall.
World Day of Prayer on Friday 7 March
This annual global event takes place at the Methodist Church, and is jointly organised by both Kibworth churches. It is a really popular service, celebrated in over 170 countries.
This year, a global wave of prayer for the Cook Islands will wash over the world so why not join us at 2:30pm?
