Kibworth & Fleckney Rotary Club – Young Achievers

Young Achievers

During the past few weeks Kibworth and Fleckney Rotary Club have been running competitions at the local schools. These were for Young Writer, Young Artist and Young Chef.

Young Writer

Three primary schools at Kibworth, Fleckney and Church Langton took part. The competition was judged by Robert Easthope of Rotary and Kirsty Wood at Kibworth Bookshop. The prize winners were:

  • 1st Khloe Lanihun of Fleckney
  • 2nd Penelope James of Fleckney
  • 3rd Leon Trail of Church Langton.

Young Artist

This competition covered three age groups and so Kibworth Mead Academy took part as well as the three primary schools. The judge was Jonjo Elliott, an internationally renowned artist who lives locally. The standard of entries was very high and Jonjo had a difficult task choosing the winners. The prize winners were:

Junior Category

  • 1st Timothy De Jager (Church Langton)
  • 2nd Khloe Lanihun (Fleckney)
  • 3rd Lauren and Emily Eyres (Fleckney).

Intermediate Category

  • 1st Finley Gilbert
  • 2nd Anabelle Thomas
  • 3rd Lucio Pizzorno

Senior

  • 1st Evelyn Johansen
  • 2nd Poppy Ward
  • 3rd Ennio Pizzorno

Young Chef

This competition took place at Kibworth Mead Academy. Judged by our President, Elaine Vandelli; Natalie Woolman and Ben the head chef, both from the Wheel and Compass, Weston-by-Welland. The food prepared was of restaurant standard and very tasty. The prize winners wereL

  • 1st Aggie Wells
  • 2nd Joseph Dangar-Edward
  • 3rd Lizzy Burbeary.

Aggie subsequently went through to an East Midlands and Midlands heat. She won them both, before going on to the national final in Romford. She again produced some excellent food and came joint second out of entrants from the whole country. Well done Aggie, another fantastic performance.

Rotary would like to thank all the entrants to the various competitions, the judges for their time and expertise and the staff at the schools for their invaluable help in arranging the entries.
