New Fleckney Youth Club

Welcome to all 11-16 year olds

Local Youth Projects are very excited to announce a new youth club for the younger people of Fleckney. 11 to 16 year olds can come along to the Baptist Church Hall on Main Street, Fleckney. The club will run on Wednesday evenings, during term time, from 7pm to 8.15pm.

The club plans to open on 27 October. Initial funding is by The National Lottery Community Fund, in partnership with Fleckney Parish Council. There is no charge for attendance, ensuring that more young people have access.

Various activities for all interests

Harborough District Children & Young People’s skilled youth work staff will be on hand to offer a variety of fun and engaging activities. All activities are based on what the young people say they want to do each week. This could include food-based activities such as making fruit kebabs and wraps. Or playing team games, ball games and sports, quizzes and challenges. Arts and crafts activities will be available as well. Activities are designed to help young people feel proud of their achievements. The club’s aims will help youngsters gain confidence, whilst getting on with their peers and others in their communities.

Ruth Cross, HCYC Youth Projects Coordinator said, “It’s great that we have the support of Fleckney Parish Council. It is a really valuable resource, and aims to provide a stable, supportive, recreational and developmental opportunity for Fleckney young people.”

Online Youth Project Develops

HCYC currently runs successful clubs in South Kilworth and Great Easton. Due to the pandemic, we adapted our services to deliver our clubs online. This proved to be a real support for the young people involved. All at a time when regular life was so unpredictable. However, over the last 18 months we have also had to pause a few clubs, which makes us even more excited to be able to open this new club in Fleckney.

Our charity regularly recruits sessional and part time Play and Youth Work Assistants and Leaders to support its delivery. Additional Assistants, to support delivery within these clubs and HCYC’s other projects, are currently being sought.

Further information

HCYC is a registered charity, established in 2012. We deliver play and youth work services and projects across the Harborough District using the ‘Chill Out Bus’ and other community locations. We also coordinate the youth-led ‘Speak Out’ magazine, and the Travelling Forward Project supporting children and young people from local Gypsy and Traveller communities.

This project was established as a partnership development by professionals within the local children, young people and families field, in response to recognised gaps in services.

The founding Trustees remain members of the Trustee Board, however additional Trustee positions are currently available within the charity.
