On Saturday 18 September, a gloriously hot sunny day at the Westfield Lane ground in Rothley, Rothley Park won the toss for the last game of the season and put Illston into bat. For Rothley it was a must win game in order to gain promotion.

Illston Abey racked up a grand total of 336 for 8 wickets (45 overs), a record total of runs for this season. Rothley could only manage 314 all out (43.5 overs), with Illston winning the game by 22 runs.
