ISSN – have you noticed?
Eight-digit number
Readers may have noticed that on the front page of every Chronicle published since October 2002 there is an eight-digit number following the letters ISSN.
Unique Serial numbers
So what is an ISSN: Wikipedia state that An International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is an eight-digit serial number used to uniquely identify a serial publication, such as a magazine or, in this case, our community newspaper. The ISSN is especially helpful in distinguishing between serials with the same title. ISSNs are used in ordering, cataloging, interlibrary loans, and other practices in connection with serial literature.
Stored for posterity
Our number is also used by the British Library who receives a copy each and every issue of the Kibworth & District Chronicle for cataloging and storing for posterity.
