Hire of the sports hall
Our sports hall remains available for hire to community users, mainly on weekday evenings during term time. We do currently have availability on some evenings so if you are a member of a sports group who may like to hire the hall on a regular basis, or for a one-off event, please email Megan at mwilliams@kibworth-tmet.uk
Apologies if there was any confusion amongst our community users – we are operating more restricted hours for community users at the moment due to staffing, cleaning and cost constraints, exacerbated by the pandemic, but it was never our intention to ‘close down’ this facility as has been previously reported. We are currently reviewing how we can best provide safe and affordable community access to our school facilities in the future. It doesn’t feel like it but the sports hall is now 26 years old and does require some updating and expansion to areas like the changing rooms for our growing number of students, and we are seeking support with this from external funders. Many thanks to everyone who has expressed a new interest in hiring the hall – the team will be getting back to you as soon as possible if they haven’t already.
Kibworth Mead Academy & The Mead Educational Trust (TMET)
Many thanks to Mr Garratt for taking such a keen interest in the future of Kibworth Mead Academy, as expressed in his letters in previous issues. We absolutely share his sense of pride in the history of the school and commitment to continuing to deliver high quality secondary education for the young people of Kibworth, Smeeton, Fleckney, Great Glen and over 20 surrounding towns and villages in total. We have now been a member of TMET since April and KMA is benefitting greatly from the additional support, enhanced opportunities and shared expertise that comes from being part of a successful multi-academy trust. Our priority at the moment is understanding the effect of Covid-19 on students’ learning and their personal development, behaviour and mental health, as well as the impact on the wider wellbeing of students and staff as we begin to see the longer term impact of the pandemic.
Once it’s safe to do so, we look forward to welcoming members of the community back into school. In the meantime, if anyone has any particular queries, please do contact me directly at kfoster@kibworth-tmet.uk
In the meantime, thank you to all our fabulous students, their families and our staff for all their ongoing hard work and support, and we wish you all a very happy, safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Chair, Kibworth Mead Academy Council
