Thank you Lois
Each month on a Sunday morning your Kibworth & District Chronicleis ‘laid up’ on boards in Kibworth Village Hall. This has been taking place ten times a year for over 41 years. From almost the beginning, Lois Harrison, reaching the age of 90 this year, has attended to read through copy (along with several others) check grammar, spelling and punctuation and carry out some minor editing before arranging the various articles on a page template ready for the printers.
She has carried this out diligently but after over 35 years has now decided it’s time to retire from ‘laying up’. A familiar and well loved face among the twenty or so Sunday volunteers attending each month, Lois said, “When I first started with lay up in the 70s there were just three desks and we used Letraset for copy.”
We thank her most sincerely for the voluntary work she has done over this time and wish her a very happy retirement. Thank you so very much, Lois. We shall miss your homemade mince pies at Christmas, which you kindly provided, but you’re always welcome to pop in during any Sunday lay-up to enjoy a coffee and chat with us.
If you think you could help us at ‘lay up’ (excluding the mince pies) for an hour or so each month, please call in on the morning of 16 June, enjoy a coffee and biscuit, and see what we do. You wouldn’t be expected to stay with us for 40 years though!
