Edmunds & Slatter’s Charity Fundraising
There is a familiar saying that you shouldn’t look back as you are no longer going that way. As the new year begins, we have taken a look at our partnership with local charity, the Bodie Hodges Foundation, over 2021.
The charity was formed in 2012, to support families who have been bereaved of a child of any age, and to promote organ donation. It does this in many ways, including offering counselling services, memory bags and it has a Boathouse retreat for families and siblings to use.
Over the course of 2021 Edmonds & Slatter have been able to raise funds for their chosen charity in several different ways. We participated in the foundation’s own organised events including a Valentines Quiz and a World Cup Sweepstake; took part in the Blaby Bunny Hop and Reindeer Round Up, and organised our own events to contribute.
The main fundraising event last year was our annual golf day, hosted by Mr Saagar Hirani, partner and optometrist at Edmonds & Slatter Opticians. Each year this has raised more funds than the previous year. The year ended with our festive raffles, Christmas Jumper Day and ‘Name the Polar Bear’ competitions.
So, we have decided to ignore the adage and look back to see just how far we have come. With the support of our patients, suppliers and staff, we are proud to have been able to send The Bodie Hodges Foundation a total of £1,697.06 to help them continue their fantastic and supportive work. We hope to be able to continue our support in 2022 and next year to look back at another amazing total.
